Objectives of this App and Vision For Peacefully Living Together in Ahlen

The integration team of the city of Ahlen and its cooperation partners strive for a vibrant community, where citizens of Ahlen assume responsibility for each other and live in solidarity. We believe that communication between the very diverse groups and a transparent discussion about their various interest is the basis for integration. For us, "integration" also means accepting the free and democratic order, as laid down by the German constitution (Grundgesetz). We also believe that integration is an interactive process which requires adjustement, open-mindedness and understanding from all citizens of Ahlen - may they be migrants, refugees or long-established residents of Ahlen. We strive for a community, where everyone has the same access to key ressources and social functions, such as education, health services, employment or accomodation, regardless of religion, age, gender, race, social or cultural background, disability or sexual identity. In order to achieve these goals, we support different projects and support measures (e.g. this app); we oppose racism, discrimination and extremism of any kind. Please note, that his app is primarily directed at asylum seekers and refugees. Nevertheless we aim to develop it into a platform for the integration of all newly arrived citizens in the light of the above mentioned values.
